As the Propex Water Heater is a fairly popular fitment for self builders, my obs. might be of interest.

The Water Heater's Tank is made of an aluminium thin wall casting. When drained it never
entirely empties. Internal strengthening corrugations trap small reservoirs of water sitting
there undiluted dissolving the aluminium until the next fill up, (the divider baffle doesn't help either)
which could be months. Result is horrible white jelly like deposits, (aluminium hydroxide) spoonfuls of it.
Propex do caution against drinking the water passing through the heater.
Personally I use the hot tap only for showering, and use the cold tap for such as brushing of my pearly
whites, and for drinking only if running short of bottled water.
IMO boiler tanks should only be made from stainless steel for mobile appl. alternatively perhaps copper.

Although for direct like for like comparison the Truma GE boiler or even the
Whale (now same co. as Propex) Expanse, both I believe having s/s tanks
make better choices. The Truma is usually cheaper as well.
