Mains Fridges

Currently building second campervan. First had a Westinghouse 80L deepfreeze, with the thermostat cable tied to 3 Deg.
Sold after 100K travelled. Managed 4 full days on a 150a/h AGM with 500W Latronics inverter. ( No solar then) (Deep freezes have the best insulation)
Most European vans use mains fridges. All South African vans have them. Friend has a GMC 70's factory motorhome he imported 10 years ago with ALL mains 120V appliances. All still work. Mains fridges are star rated, 12v ones are NOT! Have never heard of a mains fridge fail going bush. cost 1/3 of 12V ones anyway. Best are the Westinghouse 90 and 130L bar fridges, R600 gas, coils inside the side skins with heat radiating paint on the outside. No dust traps like fan cooled 12v types to block up. Had to swap out our 12v fridge fitted to our new van as battery flat in 9 hours. Pulled it out, no proper ventilation and radiator full of dust. The 90L fitted the space easily, did NOT use a full front flange to attach, so better breathing.
Bought camper has Bluetooth with BMS that is rubbish. $800 for new screen, failed in 3 years.
Busy with ambulance conversion (again) with all Victron stuff hard wired. First had 300w panel that was plenty for fridge and TV.
Skylight is hole left by roof A/C removed as engine operated. As windows do not open, must have push/pull roof vents at both ends. Summer blow down on bed, winter suck out stale air, keep warm.
Bevan.
