Garages

Our van (Citroen Relay-based) is just coming up to 3 years old, so it needs an MOT and, arguably, a service.

We called our two nearest Citroen dealers, both of whom we've used in the past, and one of which we bought the van from. Both said they are no longer prepared to service, repair, or MOT campers.

One refused to say why; the other said they'd had too many claims from campervan owners for what they regarded as spurious reasons, and their insurers had withdrawn cover for them to work on campers.

Now, since the warranty is over we can go elsewhere - but it's not a good outlook, is it? Once again, I wonder if it's a few spoiling it for the many?? A no-win/no-fee law firm out there somewhere??

It does seem a bit odd Mark that two garages have refused to service your van, even if the paint guarantee is still running, which I believe is 10 years, they would be able to void that by saying that the bodywork has been modified. As for the mechanical guarantee as you say has expired in anycase.
I can only assume that they are both commercially insured by the same insurance providers, who for whatever reason have stated that they will not insure liability of motorhomes.
Which in itself would be a bit strange as in all the years I was insured for my commercial garage I was insured to work on all high end prestige vehicles some of which would be three times the value of available motorhomes today. But then times are a changing. 🙄. Phil
