Ex AA Van - Anderson Jump Leads

spm1982

Hi,

My Vivaro is Ex AA and so it has the 2 anderson plugs fitted 1 x front 1 x rear that were originally connected to a separate battery so that they could jump start cars with out draining the van battery.

Since they sold the van the second battery is gone but the 2 plugs are left, does anyone know if its possible to reverse these and use them as a way of getting my electric hook up into the van?? Saves putting an external connector somewhere on the van

Cheers

not quite sure what an Anderson plug looks like, but if it's 12v and you want 240v then how would that work?

It would be illegal to use an Anderson connector for a mains hookup. You must use the correct item, you'll find them on on ebay. Here's black one, a beige one and a white one.

Remove your Andersons carefully, if possible identify what current rating they are, and put them on ebay. They are not cheap, so you may find they pay for your new socket.

Ah!! Thanks for the advice. I didn't realise that it was illegal. Liking the flush fitting ones thou,

These plugs are two pole (no earth) so you could not use them for mains power.

I have some anderson plugs on my coach. I have 2 sets one set is connected to start the starter via the usual starter batteries whilst i also have an alternate pair which can start the coach from another bank on the inside of the vehicle,in fact a secondary set that we also run a 24volt inverter from just for the wifes hairdryer (the inverter came with the vehicle when bought so decided to utilise it.
