Morning all,
I was lying in bed in the van last week thinking about the last 11 years of this particular van build and of the many talking points during and since.
My first thought as I looked around was that after 11 years the van looked almost as good as when I'd finished the build, I then in my day dream drifted onto the roof and looked at the conglomerate of equipment that was there, three rooflights, large solar panel, 85cm dish, 5.4mtr awning and an terrestrial maxiview aerial.
All of which were glued on apart from the awning and the hold down screws of the rooflights, my thoughts then went back to the discussions that went back and forth about the safety of things being glued to the roofs of our vans and the many nay sayers arguing that it was unsafe and all should be screwed, nailed and welded down then to be on the safe side riveted too.
Well I think after 11 years and 62,000miles I can safely say that nothing has ejected itself and when I last went up on the roof to check condition (At the start of this season) it would have been impossible for me to heave anything manually off, I would need to use either my trusty sharp kitchen knife that I use for such cases or the multi tool.
So I feel that I rest my case, that done properly gluing articles to the roof of vans can and does stay well and truly fixed. 😜. Phil
