Charging system for a minimal camper?

I can vouch for. Votronic 100%. If I only do 10 months of the year in my van I have had a very poor year and the Votronic kit has never placed a foot wrong, as I said the mppt if anything outperforms the Victron.
Saying that get whatever you want it makes no difference to me :) đź‘Ť

Thanks;
@Trev, I'd not clocked that Lead Carbon as an option. the deep cycle ability is good, but how much longer do you need to charge them? Is there a charge rate rule of thumb (like the C/5 for lead acid)?
Superficially it seems they may have 50% more useable power, but cost 50% more--- so is the benefit a longer life?
It sounds like an option for when you've got solar... so charging time is less of an issue.

@Squiffy, I understand that with solar, I just expect I'll be "vanned out" by the time its hits a minimal spec, which probably doesn't include stuff on the roof. I'm doing quite enough wacky development work with it, so I'm anticipating being fed up, and needing to use the thing to regain some sanity... Not to mention my immeasurably patient partner!
And for me, no way do I want a gennie, unless we start going to total wildernesses etc. -Sorry
2 batteries takes twice as long to charge if using a 10ah charger, same if charging off the alternator, but then again they will almost last twice as long before requiring a boost, as for solar, the rules is 100w panel for 100ah battery minimum, and 3/4 mths of the year they are useless inGB.

I'm happy with my proposal for
one 110Ahr Lead Carbon battery, which according to the spec sheets cope with 100%DOD a 100 or so times (and if that happens once I'd be very annoyed with myself), and a Votronic 30A B2B charger, and solar if we find we stay put more with the new van.
I expect this should cover our modest needs adequately, with up-speccing it.

Curiously, I've come to this conclusion following input from most of those who corresponded, even those pointing out the limits of this system. (and I'm happy to accept hose limits). It has all been useful, so thanks to all. :cool:(y)
