Calorifier saddle needed

One of the stainless steel bands on the saddle that holds my calorifier down has snapped. I have been looking round a few chandlers as SureJust who made my calorifier seem to have gone AWOL, or at least their website content does.

Anyone know where you can buy the stainless steel strap/saddle on their own, it is for a 22ltr tank and it straps over the insulation so is approximately 40Cm diameter. It’s the left hand band that has snapped in the pic, not that it makes a difference.

I have bought similar stuff from a builders merchant. You can get rolls of perforated steel band - I think it might be used for fencing repairs?

I know the stuff you mean but don’t think I could get tension on that where this is fitted. I have seen online you can buy fixing kits using nylon looking straps. I think these may be more for just holding steady in a boat or building although ratchet straps would probably work.

Looking like I am going to have to take it all apart whatever way I go so will have to factor in enough time in a place with transport links. Autumn equinox on the drove may be a good time 👍

I've got some large jubilee clips kicking around if that's any use.

Wouldn't a decent quality webbing ratchet strap work? People (like me) use them to hold down batteries and the ones I bought were rated at 4 tonnes, I think.

I have a roll of stainless strapping like Rae shows and the worm drives so I could make up jubilee clip type strap. Until I remove the calorifier I am not sure if it is possible to get a clip round the feet on the saddle part or not so won’t know if that is an option for a while.
Similarly once it is removed I can look at ratchet straps, don’t like the nylon straps with simple buckle I have seen in fitting kits but a proper ratchet strap would be well up to it if the feet part is okay.
May concoct some new feet when I take the tank out anyway so I can either get the original band welded or use alternatives. I am in discussion with Bobil at the moment as it looks like I can add their heat exchangers to my existing system so I can heat water when I use my Eberspacher airtronic.
Will be a busy few days when I get to it as I will wire in the 230V immersion element at the same time. 👍

If it’s like the straps on underslung tanks I would be doubtful of remaining life after removal. The fork truck tanks I have seen are probably better condition though but are much bigger diameter to mine at approx 430mm. Now I know I can get an OEM one I will order one and do a few jobs at the same time. Don’t want to park up for a week or two at the moment though 👍
What do they use on fork lifts for gas tanks ?. They have buckles on them !. I'd bee down the scapy for plate.

2 straps are for when it's full. just keep it empty when driving. ! So less stress on remaining strap.
It has coolant pipes from the engine running through it so only have hot water when travelling. Would defeat the purpose to leave it empty. Unless you mean short term until sorted?
