    Bloody Stixall Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Galvanising is a hot dip process and zinc coats the steel. The zinc is sacrificial and corrodes instead of the steel. The life is about 20 years unpainted. To paint it requires an etch primer to do it properly.

    Earth 2 van

Vehicle wiring products are quite good for cable and nicks and naks. 12 volt planet or something like that Is another. Sounds like that electrical shop doesn’t want your custom. Make sure the shunt is on your battery, not remote. Even though the victron devices have screws, they operate a...

Is this normal? Absorption to float transition

I've noticed if you have a load on the battery you are charging it can go into float and still maintain the load?

I've gone feral mad for fine stranded wire in screw clamp fittings. Much easier than soldering the ends of the blighters.

    Bloody Stixall Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

And people wonder why I'm so anal about some of the things I do. I think wood against treated steel is great, as long and the wood never gets wet. I'm sure something corrosive comes out of it. Wet can be humidity as well as condensation. I've had treated steel cars that have had body repairs...

What a load of rubbish I am! Orion set the alarm off this morning. Problem solved, I disabled the charger. Still haven't figured out where the off switch is yet? ;)

Starting a new build- Need insulation, for noise and heat.

https://motorhomebuilder.com/threads/violating-a-princess.66638/post-877411 What many project managers don’t understand is how to shop. It wasn’t that expensive.

I think what wildebus is saying, is that if a d+ signal was used to turn the Orion off. Switching the ignition off would turn the Orion on.

Another Victron Orion thread - sorry

What you described Pete, is exactly what I expect would happen. Maybe it would be better to mention what you would like to happen. Then I expect someone could come up with a configuration to make it happen.

I’m sorry I will have to disagree with you about the marine ply. I purchased some from Bristol with all the correct markings. It was no more water and moisture tolerant than shutting ply. It cost me a lot of time and money to refit Murky’s wet room after it failed. Varnishing is an excellent...

Now I know why your charger is for sale. I’m keeping mine as they are good chargers.

    Violating a Princess!

Running two machines for the last couple of days made me determined to do a little for myself. My heating arrangement is somewhat bespoke, with bidirectional ducting. A problem area was below the rear heaters. Left and right ducting is connected together at the back, with the option to heat the...

    Victron just arrived

Thanks for pointing that out, I was thinking of doing something similar with the Betty build. Though the multiplus has an auxiliary output for holding another battery up. That should be enough to handle the parasitic drain. I guess as I think Sprinter is doing, using the engine to charge his...
