    Fuseboxes with led warning lights

In my last van I had 3 x the same same fuse boards. One of them did the same on 3 of the fuses (light stayed on or was faded). I swapped it for another and problem solved - was a faulty fuse board. In next van I've swapped all 12v fuses for breakers. More for neatness, but should be more...

    12v fridge heater

If it's a fridge built for a motorhome it should be fine. It's usually only (some) domestic 12v goods that need a clean 12v power. Some LED lights or TV's for instance. Unless something has been added to a motorhome to regulate the power, it's never an actual 12v.

    Drop Down Double Bed

Just to give a different idea - What about adding a roof tent? We are going this route on our next build (very soon). For us, the idea started as a way of angling our solar panels, but having an extra room is going to be so nice. Ours will be 3m x 1.5m, angle up to the side and be...

    Voltage drop

Might be worth using this calculator: https://www.12voltplanet.co.uk/cable-sizing-selection.html If your fridge uses 1.3kw in 24 hours that's about 4.5Ah draw per hour - except it won't be drawing 4.5Ah as it won't be on all the time, so if it's on say 1/3 of the time it's pulling 13.5Ah. If...

    Lithium battery bank install video

Yeah a few. I went the DIY route, and used separate cells and BMS. I used 4 x 400Ah 3.2v Winston cells and a 123BMS with SmartRelay. Here's a couple of images of my first setup I don't seem to have a photo of the completed system with BMS installed to hand, but did do a video of installing...

    Lithium battery bank install video

Look forward to the next video then Phil  Glad you're sorted on the low temp protection - you wouldn't believe how many forget that bit (including half the retailers). 400Ah of LiFePO4 is a great size bank. I have the same and can go 3-4 days with no charge, which considering what I run...

    Lithium battery bank install video

Nice video Phil - Lovely and neat install :) Out of interest, did you install any other protection for the batteries? Not used the Relion and not that familiar with how it's BMS works. I "think" they have inbuilt protection against high and low voltage? But not sure how they cut chargers or...

Was where I thought it was  I'll PM you.

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

One small thing I found using a 500w inverter (same setup as @wildebus originally used), was it worked much better if the inverter was switched on before the fridge was plugged into it. It was only once, but I'd disconnected the battery with a cut-off switch. When I switched it all back on, the...

    Fridge 12v relay ?

Yep. Here's a drawing of my old elecs with the Smartcom where it would have been fitted (ended up with a compressor fridge): The live from the Smartcom can be attached anywhere from the starter battery, to the connection on your Sterling. This will mean it only comes on when the stater battery...

    Fridge 12v relay ?

The relay should switch the fridge on when the van is running, so being charged from the alternator and is at a higher voltage. It's called a Voltage Sensing Relay or VSR. A good choice is a Smartcom like this: I see your in North Wales, anywhere near Colwyn Bay? Reason I ask, is I have one...

    What tools?

I had to think about this for a while. As an ex-tradesman (still do jobs when I like them) I'm a little spoilt for tool choice. The tools I use the most when building vans would probably be: Large square and small squares scribing tools jigsaw circular saw (with and without guides) drill hand...

Selecting the right inverter for an AC Fridge

Great info @wildebus I've run the same setup as you for months now (same fridge and inverter) and it's performed brilliantly. The fridge works great (better than the £800+ motorhome fridges I've previously owned) and after the initial cost saving is forgotten, it's the silence I really...

    Old site back?

I think I must be missing something obvious here ? (likely :) ) I can;'t see anything it that post that says I can or can't mention other places? For what it's worth, I posted on the other site the full website address for both here and Wildcamping (as I know it's allowed). Am I allowed to do...

    Old site back?

I'm glad to see it back as I liked the site :) I like it here as well and have gained great information (especially from @wildebus for the help on his fridge setup that I am hugely grateful for) and I'm more than happy to pay for Wilcamping and Motorhomefun as also both worth way more than the...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Just wondered how you're getting on with this heater? Very tempted to order one myself. I'll be fitting a Propex, but as the van will be for fulltiming, I want a second heat source for redundancy. I like the idea of a diesel heater whilst driving as well. PS - So pleased I read your thread on...

AC Fridge In Campervan -.Power Consumption Test

I installed the inverter and fridge this morning and have to say that so far I'm really happy with the setup. I filled the fridge with bottled water to make it work hard to get down to temperature. No noise from the inverter at all and the fridge can't be heard from 2m away lying in bed. It's...
