    A lot of modern cars won't start anyway until the clutch is pressed, as does our Fiesta but I never press the van's clutch.

    There are two straps on the shell, one from the battery to the chassis and then another to the starter motor, I'd check/replace the latter, plenty on Ebay.

    I figured I'd use those HD full extension drawer sliders to cover the steps, and I considered getting a truck with a full width eight foot high ally tail lift so it could have a deck for fishing off or just sitting on, it would also give a place for a small awning and somewhere for a mat to not...

    Just got home so only just seen this thread I'd not touch a bus for loads of reasons. I would seek out a refrigerated 22 or 30 foot 7.5 or 10t truck and build on that, the simplicity of a square body is well worth the extra you might pay, you can just buy the furniture etc. A double bed and...

    Yup should be fine, don't forget to fuse them once inside the roof and also at the battery end, and attach the controller to the batteries first then after a little while connect the panels.

    I want to do a few improvements to the van, is there a source in West Yorkshire for cheap board or maybe offcuts? Or even a similar coloured Ply as I don't need much a 1/4 or 1.2 board would be plenty. Happy to collect if you have any spare in your way. This colour
