Fiat Ducato Low Loader Conversion Project

Unless I missed it, are you not worried about insulation?

    Legal requirements for van conversions.

So if you had 9 folding seats in the back you would be classed as a minibus and could legally carry goods too. You couldn't be taxed as a small bus/coach as you don't have "fair paying passengers" so I guess then you must be PLG? Though I think if you tried to play games with this, you find...

    Legal requirements for van conversions.

And this is the point I'm making. You now have a passenger vehicle, not a goods vehicle. If I can find it, there is an explanation of the use of private HGV's. I don't think your even allowed to carry your lunch in it, let alone passengers. I think it's intended for site only shunter...

    Legal requirements for van conversions.

I've mentioned this before on various posts/sites, but I've found the proof again. All motorhomes should be classed as PLG (M1) regardless of weight. And not any form of HGV. I don't intend any malice, it's just to inform and show how the rules are not necessarily followed by government...

    Violating a Princess!

I’ve seen something like that in Italy, though I think it was home built. I guess that was the inspiration.

    Charging vehicle battery.

I have an inverter I fitted before using leisure batteries connected to the engine batteries. Just to run the odd power tool in the event of a brake down. Though not the most efficient, I can run a battery charger from this whilst driving for the leisure batteries. Again I like to use the...

    Charging vehicle battery.

Use a victron battery to battery charger using the leisure batteries and solar to hold up the engine battery. Don't you just love Mercedes! I've not needed the alternator to charge the leisure batteries, someone else (David) will be along shortly to guide you.

Apart from the sevel vans, are any vans wide enough for a full size bed past the ribs

Sounds like you have all under control. Funny, I had the conversation about using Kunifer with my owner this morning. I refused to buy it and a decent quality flaring tool as I didn't want to work on vehicles. Now waiting for the other side brake pipe as it seems I fractured it during...

Apart from the sevel vans, are any vans wide enough for a full size bed past the ribs

The anti squeal shims normally come with the pads, but you don’t often know if you’re getting them. The gearbox is supposed to have automatic transmission fluid in it. Hypo’s ruin the bronze bulk rings. I’m rebuilding the front end working from a bare axel at the moment, due to a wheel bearing...

Apart from the sevel vans, are any vans wide enough for a full size bed past the ribs

You should have dropped in earlier, I currently run a 811D. I've been running this one for a very long time and I had two 608D's before that. Hardest thing to get is gearboxes, most of the other stuff is easy. Brake shoes no problem either. With commercials, it's common place to reline them...

    Clever Switching for water heating.

To make it easier for those with a smaller inverter there is now a 12 volt 300 watt / 240 volt 750 watt element for your calorifier. 12 Volt/240 Volt Twin Immersion 2 1/4" BSP https://www.surejust.co.uk/marine-immersion-heaters

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Now the electricals are nearly done, are you thinking about a couple of days on your back to get that corrosion under control? Better to do it before it gets cold and wet.

    Finshed our conversion

I used to have a slot under the rear bed in my first MH. My youngest at the time loved sleeping under there. That back in the womb feeling I guess.

I actually like being clambered over, it's the nearest I get to intimacy ;)

Enjoy your time away David. I hope you don't spend it all in other people electrics ;)

    Clever Switching for water heating.

Well I've made a start on the clever water heating from surplus solar. A relay is now mounted in the consumer unit along with a wire connecting it.

    12volt Compressor

My experience with diy tyre inflators, is that they would die before finishing the job on a truck tyre. I guess your brakes are vacuum assisted?

You might be better off making something up using an air suspension pump and an old propane cylinder.
