    Van weight.

In addition to my post above there’s a suppri amount of people either too ignorant to realise or more likely, knowingly, driving vans plated > 3500kg without a C1 licence I regularly seem them pleading ignorance across multiple FB groups seeming reassurance they won’t get caught etc. They...

    Used Industrial Solar Panels?

@farang An issue with older Domestic panels is efficiency which is basically the rated output proportionate to the panel size. I bought a 240w panel a few years ago it was nearly 2m long by 1100mm wide it has long since been replaced with higher wattage smaller more efficient panels on my van...

New van build ( Again )

@Squiffy I was just assuming it might be a welfare van! Modified sine wave inverters tend to be less efficient with inductive loads. I did a comparison video a few years ago running a fridge on a Cotek pure sine wave inverter compared to a Sterling quasi sine wave inverter, the current...

New van build ( Again )

@Squiffy That sounds like a reasonable purchase, often welfare vans have modified sine wave inverters so check that, ok for resistive loads like heating water etc but usually not much else Being a welfare van double check the V5 if the vehicle type is M1 and it plated up to 3500kg check the...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

@Squiffy That’s probably an incorrect assumption certain information such as taxation class and body type is not available via ANPR, I Queried this some time ago with the DVLA fraud prevention team, it’s info that never shows up when doing any online queries. DVLA stated that certain info has...

DVLA requirements for change to motor caravan

100% correct, you couldn’t do that in a million years, the correct and only term the DVLA recognise is Motor Caravan! So you can always try that. I bet they have a right laugh though looking at the balls up people probably make on their V5s by filling in Camper or Camper Van or Motorhome, I bet...

New van build ( Again )

@Squiffy Rupert tends to sell lots of ex Ambulances I bought my first from him, paid way too much for it and it was delivered with a mil light on and some interior damage, if you are looking at an ex Ambulance or any form of minibus check two things First if the vehicle type on the V5 says M1...

    Any good?

The Sevels van platform is very popular and capable of extremely high mileage they can however start to look cosmetically very tatty seats and floor mats etc. The high top maxi plated at 4000kg is the standard A&E Ambulance workhorse in many trusts. The high roof creates room for a bit of...

    Interesting Build Series on YouTube

Our youngest son used to point them out excitedly and now every time we see a DPD van we automatically translate it as Diplodocus….. Blind Rudolph why he saw the original connection but it’s stuck with us now.

    Van weight.

@Squiffy Ironically identical post cropped up on FB today so I asked a group expert who is an mot tester, Not all garages have roller that measure weight it isn’t mandatory also the rollers are not certificated for accuracy. I doubt the info would be of any use to the DVLA as is.

    Sad Times!!

eBay classified is ok, I sold my last van via that, buyer gave me a £500 deposit and paid the balance via bank transfer prior to collection so no hi risk paypal involved. FB marketplace can get quick results only downside is dealing the some very weird or often completely illiterate people so...

Which Adhesive to attach cellotex to aluminium sheets

Personally I would have used contact adhesive bondit is reasonably priced for a 5l can it is instant stick so a one shot go though so probably using smaller pieces of pir would be sensible. If one of the surfaces had been porous then bog standard dirty cheap vinyl flooring adhesive is...

    Help with my Solar System

@SethsVan Move your negative to the bottom battery for better balance. It is good practice to connect an inverter direct to the battery using the shortest and thickest cables possible especially if the intention is to use it near max capacity (not really recommended at 12v other than very...

    INSULATION & MOISTURE?

Yes, if any warm moist air can get to the void then they can suffer from massive amounts of condensation, I work on many ex Ambulances and people are often told by sales persons they are well insulated which for the vast majority they are absolutely not, most PVC conversion have voids...
