wickes cork flooring tiles

Mr D

Anyone used wicked cork flooring tiles in their self build.

With cork being a good insulator I was thinking of using it with insulating thermal foil.

Wickes > "3.2 mm thick ideal for kitchens and bathrooms with a tough precoated acrylic surface"

Thinking on the lines that the above would be good for a camper floor.

What do you think?

Nay or yay!

nay. wore through mine in about 3 months . we spent a lot of time at beaches ,and our feet acted like sandpaper !. awful lot of traffic on a camper floor . best floor is heavy duty vinyl, like Rhinofloor , i don't like it and use cheap, replaceable laminate

:ditto: They also have a tendency to shrink back when glued or varnished, not hard wearing enough for this kind of traffic.

It's a' 'Nay' then from all. No good me laying a floor that i sandpaper away each time i walk on it. That's good enough reason not too for me.

I already have a perfectly flat surface covered in thin but heavy duty commercial kitchen vinyl. It's tough as old boots but it's so cold to walk upon barefoot I end up showing the early signs of hypothermia when I do. The problem I have is it's going to a nightmare to get off so I'm thinking on the lines of laying thermal foil over it and rubber backed thick carpet tiles on top. That is my 'plan b' one hour floor insulation project, be honest, does it suck? I just want warm feet and if a carpet tile gets very dirty i whip it out and wash it. If that's a bad idea my 'plan c' idea is to just stick softer, warmer vinyl over the commercial vinyl that's already there.

carpet tiles will work ,laid on the vinyl, but i don't think trying to put insulation under them will work . i would get a couple of really good rugs, and some sheepskin slippers- in fact i did !

Have commercial vinyl flooring in mine got myself a nice pair of Nordic fur lined slipper boots they work a treat. Toastie!

Sheepskin and Nordic fur slippers! You can't beat animal fur for warmth, like everything else with my conversion I'll have to make a pair, thanks for the advice guys, I'll visit 'pets at home' first thing in the morning.

Carpet tiles, no foil and a pair of slippers it is. Thanks guys. :)

Cheap rugs on the floor in the trailer over Cushionfloor, couple of years use and then throw them away :)

I think I'll go half n half. Van entrance and food prep' area will be vinyl tiles, my living room area will be carpet tiles and for good measure I'll get a nice rug too.

Thanks everyone. I've appreciated the input.
