When to go to a weighbridge?

So when should you go and weigh your van at a weighbridge?

I only ask this question as only very recently when I advertised my van for sale on Quirky Campers, their site asked what the Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) was as well as the Unladen Weight.

Now for me, I knew what the GVW was because it clearly stated it on the V5 document as well as on a label on the 'B' pillar, but as for the Unladen Weight, quite frankly I was at a loss because it isn't stated on the V5 or on any label on the body.

What I had done was go to the weighbridge at the end of my build when the van was very fully laden with all tanks full, loaded to the brim with all the luggage, food, dogs x3, bedding, clothing, you name it everything needed for our immediately forthcoming 5 week tour of Europe and it was then that I found the advantages of my lightweight build as the full weight was only 2722 kgs. But of course that wasn't the unladen weight, however it did give me a clear idea as to how many hundreds of ltrs. of wine we could bring back with us!!
