Sprinter roof pooling water

Now I've cut away over 75% of roof for the 700x500 the roof bows to the sky light !
The bars are at one level and the outer skin is 10mm above the crossbeams should it be held up there as the Barton frame and the fixings pull it back down?

I think it’s a little late for you, but with my 608 I inherited leaky sky lights. No amount of sealant cured it for any length of time. Then the penny dropped, I set about the opening with some mole grips and turned up a lip all the way round. Technically I don’t think I ever stopped the leak, but water never came in again.

Well last thing I done last night was paint it red but at 2am the rain fell hard. So into the van I went to prevent major probs.
See photos my eyes closed.
But the wood and lifters worked.

Okay, may be a stupid question but shouldn’t the skin be resting on the cross beam? Why not pack the gap between skin and beam so you have a stable surface then brace up the opening with rectangular fram then build up what you need on the outside with Nigel’s mastic tape?

Only done 40x40 sky light at front of van befor, It fitted between, on flat roof. This one fills the hole gap to beams front and back 70cm.

Painted ply and braces last night after cutting new wood..

Should I screw the frame together flat or use pocket hole thing as now it can't be made Insitu like last time. Beams in way.
