Sound proof

Is general insulation good enough to act as sound proofing too? Or is that a different issue altogether?

Have look on fleebay theres loads. id cut and paste some, but for some reason i cant paste on here? As to your question depends on which insulation your thinking of using?

thermal insulation helps to sound proof but there are other things you can do as well, you want to stop panels vibrating that used to be done with self adhesive bitumen sheets but I see from a google search there are now new materials available

i think that compressed insulation that comes in square green slabs,b and q have it,looks like sound insulation worth looking into.

Stopping heat loss and noise use completely different technologies. Heat is retained by trapping air in tiny pockets. Noise is transmitted through air but stopped by dense materials.

sound insulation

Dense materials for sound ,for a landrover you can buy a blanket to cover the gearbox and blanket /panels to fit to the bulkhead they are made up of a sandwich of thin lead sht with a water proof menbrane either side with some other material sealing it all up like when you laminated a piece of paper.
panels now get a coat of some type of paint to stop vibration
