I haven't said but we have been touring the continent for the last three weeks of a two month tour, we have been down to Pompeii and Herculaneum, visiting Pisa for the third time as this was as far south in Italy that we had previously been mainly because my wife Eileen had not retired on our previous outings but now she has we decided to go further south on thus trip.
We had in the past had a dome sat dish but had found that when they cut the footprint, we lost UK transmissions mid France. So a couple of years back I purchased from Jackson liesure a 85cm dish package which allowed us to us our Sky Q Box when we went away, and in the UK It was faultless. However I was interested to see just how far out we could recieve UK broadcasts with the new dish, as we used to be able to get UK signals in Switzerland before the footprint reduction. Well I can confirm that with an 85cm Dish we were recieving full Sky Q channels as far as Genova, to be honest all the sites from Genova down to Pompeii we were under trees that blocked the signal so I really can't say yay or nay to signal strength any further down apart from on one occasion we stopped to have lunch somewhere down the SS1 autostrada and I deployed the dish and was able to get Sky news and Challenge but I didn't bother to try a new sweep of channels on Freesat so could possibly have got more, plus the fact I really can't oʻremember how far down Italy we were at the time as it was so dammed hot and I just wanted to get to the next camp we had decided to go to. But when all is said and done I can honestly say the an 85cm dish is fine for anywhere in France, Switzerland or top half of Italy if your inclined to want British tv on your travels. In fairness we mainly used our phone apps to bluetooth the Radio on Classic FM or BBC radio 2 using Reglo French mobile or Smarty. We still have 5 weeks left for our wanderings . Phil.
