Roof vent?

I've got a small van conversion (no windows) and was wondering about a roof vent to help air flow/get rid of fumes, etc. This sort of thing:

Apart from the cost (sure I can get cheaper) are there any negatives?

I've only a small van with future plans for a solar panel on the roof - that might take up a bit too much room

There are also several solar powered ones which will operate when you are not in the van helping to prevent mildew.

I've used the solar panel driven ones on boats, obviously you will need to cut a hole, but the rest is a doddle. (use a good sealant like Sikaflex).

my works van has a similar one fitted and it lets the rain in sometimes also they do make a whistling noise when driving

if you are only after a small amount of ventilation there are these vents made for the boating industry
