Replacing double seat in Transit for a single swivel - any advice?

thegranger

Hi folks

I've spent the summer converting a 2010 Transit into a campervan. The time has come to tackle the passenger seat/s. It's my intention to replace it with a comfier Captain style seat on a swivel plate. I've got the swivel plate sorted for the model. It's now a case of choosing an appropriate replacement seat. Ideally, it would be great if the height of the replacement matched that of the driver side. I'm not fussy about matching the colour.

I was wondering if anyone out there has tackled a similar project? Any tips on replacement makes of seat? Any pitfalls I should watch out for? Many thanks in advance.

Cheers
Yvonne

The swivel passenger seat in my 03 (mk6) is a drivers seat fitted to a swivel plinth so matches perfectly (though sits slightly higher duets swivel mech) and has a armrest on the wrong side....

I can get pictures later if it's any help.

Cheers for that. Now that you've said it, it seems pretty obvious! I'm guessing the floor fixings will match in, so it makes sense.

My Renault Master swivel seats are also the Original seats fitted to a swivel base.
Not sure how much higher they now are as they were fitted when I bought it. They same fine for me @ 5'10" tall.

Some of the bolt holes are in different places, but just remove the appropriate bungs to reveal the threads.
Remove the seat belt stalk, and get the correct matching single seat, loads always on eBay. You could also get the correct matching door trim panel like the drivers side one.
Looks much better when done properly. Mk6 & 7 are the same.
