Silly me forgot to turn of my EBL100-2 during my recent retiring work and managed to spike my EBL and Control panel. This was towards the end of the week before Christmas. Half my van functions without the EBL but I do still have stuff I need going through it, 12V fridge, most interior lights, toilet flush and usb and 12V sockets on drivers side of the van, plus tanks level and temperature levels.
I ordered some rechargeable led puck lights to give me light and at a push I could manage okay as I am off away again this week.
I had the meter out testing a few things and checked every blade fuse in the EBL so I was already thinking I was going to be stuck for a fix. I contacted A and N Caravans and got some emails going with Martin (found him very helpful in the last) and Martin thought it was either the EBL or the EBL and the control panel. I got instructions for removing (already done) all parts and where to send them to along with links to couriers.
I wanted to drive over and drop it off but they are not accepting anything that way probably due to covid. Lost a day gathering together suitable packaging but DHL picked it up on 17th December. Due to weekend it wasn’t delivered until Monday afternoon so I wasn’t expecting to get it back before the new year.
I was told the unit had been tested and given a price for repair, go ahead given I made payment on Tuesday and the parcels were delivered back to me on Wednesday 22nd December.
I cannot recommend Martin and A and N too much, both troubleshooting and or advice in the past has been great so I was glad to be able to pay back in a small way getting my units repaired. The service this close to Christmas really surprised me though.
The cost? To test EBL and identify problems, repair as needed then test again was £130, not bad at all in this day and age methinks. This price didn’t include couriers, I used DHL and Martin used ParcelForce.
