Installing the electrics - guides?>

leosaphira

Hi all

Is there any good guides you can recommend regarding the install of a electric hookup system?

I have a basic 3x leisure battery setup supplying to tv/lights etc and I am looking to install a full system so I can charge at electric points. Want to do it right and not going bang. (as I don;t have a zig unit nor any RCD's)

Here's a guide:

1) Get an electrician.

Seriously, don't mess around with it if you don't know what you're doing. Even if someone explains what they think you want step by step there are things to catch you out.

Current setup

Running off the fuse board there is:

12v LED Light Strip
12v TV
12v Diesel Night Heater
12v Water Pump x2
12v to 230v Inverter (with Socket)

With 3 LBs and looking at what you are running - do you actually need a hook up?

How flat are the batteries getting?

was a electrics engineer come 14 years back - yes times have moved on just need a refresher/guides. Have wired up the current setup with no problems but now I need to moving on installing the hookup part/ 2x solar panels/mpt and adding in a zig unit/rcd.

As for current batteries - 60% charge since dec. Just charged them all up again with charger. Camper not moved as in works for repairs but used daily as a man cave/day sleep away from Kids (night worker)

I will need a hook up as come winter I will be using her

easiest way is to just install a mains kit similar to this Mains Installation Kit 'Surface Fit' - Grasshopper Leisure and with a battery bank that size a pretty decent battery charger I personally like the Sterling equipment something like these Sterling Power Pro-Charge Ultra 12V 30A Battery Charger PN:pCU1230 [3 OUT] but have also used these Amperor 3 Stage 18amp Leisure Battery Charger MV3/180 - Grasshopper Leisure in several St John Ambulances that we built seemed pretty good for the price
