getting a roof vent fitted

jenny

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying a solar roof vent for my van, and just wondering what I should expect to pay to get it fitted? (this is not something i'd even think about attempting myself!). I've been quoted £80 by one place in Bristol.. is this reasonable? Or anyone in the south west know of any other good places to get it done? (I dont mind travelling a bit).

Thanks!

P.S. It is only a small circular vent as the roof is ribbed so couldn't easily fit a big one anyway.

I'd say it is about 1-3 hours work (+ a tube of mastic eg Carafax... a few quid) depending on if you have to trim insulation and lining etc so £80 would be reasonable at "garage" labour rates. But seriously, if Mr Brown has offered I'd take him up on that as I have seen his work and it's top notch ;)

Hi everyone,

Be aware though that most vans will have a ribbed roof and that won't normally prevent you from fitting a skylight vent if that's what you would have liked.

We have a VW t5 high top that we have just had fitted with a heki MIDI roof vent. Our roof is also ribbed. Paul at creative customs sw did it for us for a very reasonable price. He is based near glastonbury. Lovely bloke too.
