Hi, picking my van up soon & of course the panic :scared: is setting in!!
I need :help: do I put ALL the vents in first or do I insulate first??
Would be grateful for any advice :)

Plan,Plan,Plan,Plan,Plan,and Plan, again!

It's easier to find the right place for rooflights, fridge vents, water fillers, gas fillers, toilet hatches etc. before you insulate. Internal ribs may need to be removed, you may need to adjust the height of exterior hatches to avoid hitting the trim panels, lot's of variables!!!

When I did mine I started with a black marker and worked out the locations of the vents first, marked them on the inside and then fitted the insulation only cutting the vents etc when I was ready to do so.. But then again I didn't really have a plan just made it up as I went along. I would council against this method as I created a lot of problems for myself...
Decide what you want, where you want it and measure everything up first. Draw your plans and try to stick to them..make changes if you need to but have drawings of some sort... Work logically and make sure you run your services before you do anything else.. Ie pipe runs, wire runs etc...then insulate.. It's a lot easier that way....
Good luck..
Ps ... Don't listen to me.. I didn't do it that way...:hammer:

all holes in the body will need a timber frame on the inside,so you need to work out their position and know their sizes.i start by making all these frames, some of which need to be scribed,ie fitted to the curve of the walls, annd shaped for the wallpanels.i then stick them in position with stixall or gripfill and leave overnight to cure.next take away whatever was holding these frames overnight and insulate.its a matter of preference, but i find it better to fit all my wiring etc at the end.
once the insulation is in place fix the wall and ceiling panels, remembering where the frames are.once they're fixed use a laminate trimming blade in a router to cut out the holes.
now use a small drill to put a hole through the bodywork in each corner of the frames,go outside and connect the holes with marker pen and cut out.always have some polythene sheet and tape in case it rains !

Oh yes, I've been planning (a lot) & drawing (a lot). Moving things around (on paper) sort of working out the weight of things & trying to even it out as much as possible.
As for doing the wiring before the insulation, I had thought of that. But I'm not even going to attempt that on my own. And was hoping to get started, before I found someone to help with the electrics. But now I'm going be doing some more thinking.
