Hello everyone!

I'm considering some exciting changes, and I'd really value your feedback. The MotorhomeBuilder.com website doesn't receive much traffic and incurs ongoing annual costs. Most of you here are already active members of WildCamping.co.uk, and I'm thinking about refocusing our self-build community back onto Wild Camping, where it initially began.

Here's my vision:

  • Integration with WildCamping.co.uk:
    • Establish a dedicated "Build It & Fix It" section, prominently featured to get daily engagement from the wider community.
    • Gradually migrate the valuable content from MotorhomeBuilder.com to this new section.

  • Build-It Fix-It Gatherings:
    • Host three to four special events each year, initially at Hereford Rowing Club, potentially expanding to other regions including Devon/Cornwall, the South East, Northern England, and possibly Scotland.
    • Structured events from Thursday to Tuesday, with mentoring rather than direct labour from experienced builders.
    • Fun and community-oriented activities: Friday baked potato night, Saturday curry night and disco, Sunday Sticky 13s game.

  • Enhanced Support and Resources:
    • Presence of sponsors, including a Victron distributor (likely BlueFix), providing discounted parts and components on-site.
    • Mentorship opportunities pairing experienced self-builders with newcomers needing guidance and support.

  • Event Costs and Logistics:
    • Higher costs to cover necessary insurance and running expenses, with mandatory bookings for Friday and Saturday nights, and additional nights available at standard camping rates.
    • Attendees would sign disclaimers for personal responsibility regarding their projects and activities.

Before moving forward, I'd appreciate your thoughts and preferences. Please participate in the poll and share your comments below:

Poll Options:

  1. Keep everything as-is, maintaining MotorhomeBuilder.com separately.
  2. Rebrand MotorhomeBuilder.com with a new name that better represents our activities.
  3. Absorb MotorhomeBuilder.com into WildCamping.co.uk, creating a comprehensive self-build section with regular events.
I'm genuinely excited about the potential here, especially with the support and enthusiasm we've already seen from sponsors and community members. Your feedback will guide our next steps.

Thanks for your time and support!

Maybe all 3 sites under one roof, just differant sections, wild camping to me always seemed like tent brigade, not what we do, motor home wildies or motorhomer comunity sounds better, you shout.

Hi Phil, yes the site as it stands does not now host as many posts as it used to, wether this is because self builds are having a decline is not certain but certainly I have noticed that it now seems days between posts and nowere near the amount of newbi questions to keep the site busy, I personally agree that a molding into Wild camping would benefit all those that do still post and would revive the interest of those that have completed their builds but do occasionally log in here to see what is happening, as I personally do from time to time.
