Camper tyres

Is it worth fitting 'motorhome type' tyres to a converted van or are commercial van tyres good enough?
It seems the more info I find the more confusing it is.

You pay through the nose for specific Motorhome tyres, most especially those made by Michelin. They do claim that they have a greater resistance to UV rays that can knacker a tyre which is parked up for long periods of time, but trying to prove that would be nigh on impossible!

Personally I run 'Millie' on Kumho van tyres and am more than satisfied with my choice.

As our van quite often go off road onto grass, one of the most important things to look for is a decent tread that will give grip.

You will find that all the big converting companies use the commercial tyres as supplied by the manufacturers especially Fiat who use Vanco on their Ducato's. I continued to use Vanco tyres as supplied (And my van is on the cusp of 3.5tons)which have performed well over the last 4 years. Why pay out for motorhome tyres when there is no need. Phil

I also use 'ordinary' van tyres and can see no reason to fit moho ones.

I too use van tyres, but I do not think the MH tyres are weight related, but supposedly for a different driving style and "comfort". Geoff
