Another newbie and self build van

A KIRK

Ok been on a little while but mainly lurking, so thought it was time to add a few pics.

Started off as an ex Network Rail Crew Van, and whilst the conversion might not be perfect and professional looking, I still love it and it suits my needs, built mainly to go off mountain biking.

Hi A Kirk,

Wellcome to the site,

Looks a great van. How long did it take to convert?

Thanks, it took 160 hours to do the interior, done over a 2 months. I had to fit it in around work, luckily work was quiet so got quite a bit of time to work on it.

The only things I didn't do myself was the seat/bed covers, and the curtains, I had a neighbour make them for me.

Well done, great job. Just a suggestion. Get yourself a beer glass holder for your beer. It is a precious commodity. :)

The pint holds a girly shandy, as I'd run out of propper ale, so tried to improve the taste of lager by adding lemonade to it. Didn't really work.

The van is used as my avater on a few different forums I use, so it does get about a bit.

Hi there,i have owned many campers from vw aircooled to an elldis autostratus,i know have a converted citroen relay.
The autostratus was great and i lived in it for 10 months in spain but apart from the shower it was no more use than the many selfbuilds i have had and to me it was a lot of money to have siting around on the drive when i returned home. i sold the motorhome a went back to a self build and i love it,you can build it to your own spec and build to a budget,in my mind it is the best way to go,looks a nice van by the way, cheers Shawbags (Chris).
