2Kw inverter under £300

No idea :) I wouldn't be swayed by the saving from the "before" price of £479 though :cautious:
Ha ha no, that’s why I just said under £300 lol. Just thought someone may have come across them, I know folks who have bought solar from them and recommended so assuming a company who know their stuff. Was thinking that they wouldn’t badge their name if they were rubbish but hoped someone could shed some light.
Only ones I have seen at these prices for PSW have been dubious badging, it’s 4kw peak.

I understand your thought process there :)
Given a bunch of inverters at similar prices, makes sense to go for one badged by someone who actually cares about what they sell!

For a while now I have been checking the output quality of the Inverters I try out to see what they really look like. It is surprising just how many "Pure Sine Wave" Inverters are not that "Pure"! Not quite the chunky wave of a MSW one, but certainly not smooth either.

I know you have been looking at the Pure Sine Wave inverters, but this 2000W MSW Inverter looks interesting ...

Not ever used one, but there is something about it that looks quality to me, especially at the price. Plus the review rating is encouraging.
I think I might try this out the next time I need a cheap high-power model?

Is that what he bought? interesting.
As an aside, I find the continental Shucko plugs better than the UK13A plugs for an inverter in a van. They tend to hold more securely as the whole plug housing goes into the socket and not just the pins

The Krueger unit isn’t a PSW inverter where the other one is although that may nor matter to me. The Sunshine Solar unit has 2x + and 2 x - battery cables. I have read documentation for both but still not sure if you can draw 2Kw from a single socket or if these are both in fact two 1Kw units in a single case. Is there a way to tell?

I don't know for sure but I would be very surprised if the dual sockets on any non-specialist inverter are not simply 2 sockets wired in parallel, no different to a domestic twin socket.

Having a pair of DC supply cables instead of one is fairly common with inverters. It is often cheaper and easier to use say 2 x 25mm cable then a single 50mm cable. It doesn't say what size the cables are, but they look like either 25mm (most likely) or 16mm.
Theoretically a 4000W Inverter could be drawing 333A at 12V and that could demand a cable size of 100mm2, but you would never use a cable that size. As an example, the Victron Multiplus 12/3000 (2400W normal, 6000W peak) specifies 2 x 50mm cable, or 2 x 70mm cable if over 5M long. A 100mm cable would be just too unwieldy to use. I have a much shorter run than 5M and use just one cable. When I used a 50mm cable I found it got relatively warm when pulling over 200A for any time, but when I changed it to 70mm cable it stayed cool.

What do folk require them for,i have one to power my carver from van battery and fridge.
I am thinking of connecting up the immersion heater element that’s fitted to my calorifier for hot water Trev. If I am going to do that I may as well have it so I can also use the microwave. Saying that I would sooner junk the microwave as it’s only been used a couple of times to softer butter in the van lol

I have seen some cheap Chinese 2Kw inverters where they are in fact 2 1Kw inverters with each of the two plug sockets providing 1Kw but sold as a 2Ks inverter. I was just trying to make sure whatever I get is in fact going to provide 2Kw if a single plug is connected 👍

@wildebus where do you get your Shucko plugs from, not finding much choice so far and mainly adaptors which arent suitable for the load I don’t think?

Oh right. Not seen those and very misleading there.

Looking at the calculator posted on the Immersion heater thread I am not sure if this is a good idea or not lol
