2017ducato towbar wiring

Looking for information on 7 pin towbar wiring using a PCT bypass relay need to find the rear light colour for the connection the Ducato canbus system uses a dual feed to rear lights and brake lights, PCT recommend using this wire to control both rear lights and break lights can get to the rear lights and high level brake light but cannot locate the cable I need for this

I just took all my 7 pin connections from the wiring loom to each of the rear lights on the van. For the rear and brake lights I only used one side. The relay was also just placed alongside the existing loom , but I must admit that the buzzer is difficult for me to hear (deaf old f???). Geoff.

I should have added that my van is an X250 and the 290 may be different, although even if it is the same method should still work. Geoff.

Thanks Geoff seems I have the same wire for the brake lights and rear lights relay people say just use the brake light cable but cannot locate the correct one it is not the one on the rear light cluster highly confusing

Same here Geoff the buzzer is a bit superfluous in my case but drives everyone else mad if I'm stationary with the indicators going. 😄. Phil

I do not think it very likely that the same wire operates two different circuits, although that could be possible with todays clever electronics. Are you saying that the brake and rear light are the same bulb/led? that operates at two different light intensities? Geoff.

Could be that the main feed wire to the brake lights and side lights is live constantly and the brake light works when the bulb is earthed by applying the brake pedal and conversely the side lights are earthed when side light switch is turned on. A bit like a series parallel circuit. Phil

Certainly the same wire tothe stop light and side light it appears from testing that the stop light always has approx 2 volts in the circuit I'm confused has you are waiting for the Easter hols to finish and will ask Fiat technical to see if they can advise struggling to get an answer to this was hoping an auto elect might read
Thanks for replies

You could talk to a towbar specialist and ask what they do. We have a company in Peterborough (Tanfield) who I have found to be very helpful with advice on the phone. Good luck with it - there must be a solution. Geoff.
