    Low solar panel yield

I am wandering around the highlands and you are harvesting more than me, I am averaging 40 to 60W a day off 300W flat on the roof.

    E-00 undervoltage

Yes, the leads that come with diesel heaters can be quite long. Probably okay if heater is close to the battery and you can do away with most of the cable but not so good if you need to run 5metres or so. I swapped feed cable for 25amp for diesel heater.

    Spray foam insulation.

I am fully aware of that, particularly when it comes to gas lol

    Spray foam insulation.

Think spray foam done properly is best for thickness and performance but as said with your straight, flat walls Kinspan type should be great. Someone mention the sticky pins that Greg Virgo used, I remember seeing those and thinking how much easier it seemed to make fitting.

    Sticky solar panel

I think unless you are going to do a proper job then put a bolt through it, I have seen people not following instructions and also glue to dodgy paintwork. I contacted Sika and told them what I was wanting to do, they advised me how to do it (with just glue), I followed their instructions and am...

    Sticky solar panel

Good reason for roughing down to the metal Trev. Was okay for me as mine is aluminium, shouldn't be a problem on a PVC either so long as plenty adhesive used to fully cover bare metal

Simplest Solution for off-grid (starter) trickle charging

Yes for what David is suggesting it just needs a fuse pulling or isolator switch in line. Cheapest and probably easiest way to extend starter battery while stood. OP has already pointed out they don’t have the spare cash to put ‘proper’ solutions in at present.

    Camper van water system

I haven’t noticed any difference in speed engine warms up or vent temperatures David. Now normally I wouldn’t have been able to answer this but I have currently disconnected the calorifier from the loop and everything vehicle wise seems the same. It’s been cold as well so probably a good time to...

    Camper van water system

Electric May be adjustable but you would need to check the immersion itself. They normally come preset at 60/65 I think, mine can be adjusted but I don’t know if that’s typical or not. My calorifier has automatic mixer valve on outlet so hotter the water in the tank the further it goes, that was...

You forgot it would need to be consistently shite and documented as such 😂😂😂

    Camper van water system

Can you turn up the temperature of the heated water David? If so it may ease your situation as you would use less hot/more cold in the mix, would depend how close you are to getting your two showers now though.

    The Dreaded DVLA

If refusal had anything to do with type approval then all conversions should be subject to an IVA or whatever it is called now. I don’t think type approval has anything to do with it does it? I thought they were allowing a lot more through classsed as motorcaravans now since the Watchdog program...

Replacement Light Glass - An Option

I may have said wrong thing, the tube I am thinking of is a halogen one, is that classed as flourescent? In any event there is only a couple of watts difference between the halogen tube and the led replacement. After I discovered this I didn’t bother doing the one over the bed

Replacement Light Glass - An Option

Fluorescent tubes are hardly any different to led for power consumption, at least the size you usually get in motorhomes aren’t (12v ones)

    The Dreaded DVLA

From posts I have seen about this it seems more likely you get motorhome if you use caravan style windows rather than bonded glass.

    Camper van water system

Your Bobil should be a similar setup to mine with the mixer valve 1 cup. Have you tried increasing tank temperature so it will add more cold water when you draw off? Bobil probably have info on it, I think my little bit of knowledge came from SureCal as it’s their gear I have fitted. Think it...

    Camper van water system

Not sure how successful you will be doing this in a van but I guess if depends how hot you want the water and for how long. I run a 22ltr calorifier and while it can be piping hot when I park up it does not hold heat for long. Calorifier tank does have the factory insulation where cold water...

Salt batteries, are tehy now the very best?

You can be sure that any type of power will have money trying to control it as usual. Only chance of this not happen I g is if they find a way to produce energy that anyone could do and release it over the internet to enough sources before it’s taken down

    ON DEMAND WATER HEATER

I keep toying with an instant gas water heater but I have a full height external locker that vents outside and is sealed from the habitation area. Makes it a lot simpler for me if I do it plus I could get away without room sealed heater if I wanted.
