  1. Water Pump cutting in and out

Do you have an accumulator as well? The Shurflo is pressure sensitive and will only run when the pressure drops below a threshold value. So it most likely won't be on continuously when you use a tap - it'll wait before the pressure drops. If you have an accumulator, which tends to 'buffer' the...
  2. Plywood paneling - how to get this smooth seemless finish?

Might have used biscuit joints. He said it was 1/2" ply, so that would work. I used a similar idea on exposed joints where I didn't go for a seamless look, but had an exposed, chamfered join. The biscuits kept it tight and straight.
  3. HTF's campervan build

Damn. Wish I'd thought of that. My original plan was to have our electric bike suspended in the garage high up at ceiling level. I did all the support stuff and got it working but we decided the faff was just too much and abandoned that plan. Wish I'd thought of motorising it!
  4. Solar on my touring campervan.. a waste of time ?

Are you sure? I say that because I read a thread elsewhere (and can't find it now) talking about the surprising inefficiency of engine charging. For example, a 30A Orion from Victron only delivers 30A under very ideal conditions, and if you had seriously depleted the batteries by, say, stopping...
  5. Noise difference btwn. Transit L3H3 bus vs Transit L4H3 jumbo freighter

I can't answer to difference in driving comfort and noise, but my opinion about the size difference is that given the number of people in your family, then you will probably value the L4. I have an L3H3 (Citroen Relay) and we find the extra headroom of the H3 makes a huge amount of difference...
  6. New here, with a 1983 VW Lt35 Motorhome.

Wow. Wonder what it looks like after a serious clean! Smart, probably! Something different for sure. Does it need a complete strip-out inside? I would guess so
  7. Violating a Princess!

Yep, been there.... Sometimes it seems just too hard.
  8. SBMCC

Likewise. But then after I'd finished and hoped I might make some useful comments to help someone else, every time I did so I got slapped down by the regulars who said 'that'll never work', despite me having just done it. So I gave up
  9. High altitutide hazard

🤣 Because I'd only done No 1s and not No 2s, I was bending over to pull out the slider, so I was lucky not to get "Blue Nose" Never realised life on the road was so dangerous. Think that's posher than us. We have a Porta Potti, which has the benefit of being about the simplest toilet I could...
  10. High altitutide hazard

We drove along the Route des Cretes at the Gorges du Verdon while we were in France two weeks ago, and made an "interesting" discovery. The road goes up to about 1,200m above sea level and at this height the air is thinner. So much so that when I opened the sealed slider over the toilet...
  11. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

Yes, but our van has the rain and automatic headlight detectors there, and no mirror. So there's virtually no shaded area left. I found a spot where the tag is half or maybe one third in the shaded area and it seems to work. Just back from 1,800 miles in France, loads of tolls and no problems...
  12. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

I'm hoping Meteo France is wrong, but it's saying that it's likely to be wet anywhere in France between about the 16th and the 23rd.... Right on the south coast might be OK. I think I'll use a different forecast - La Chaine Meteo is a bit better :)
  13. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

Looks like it's going to b***dy rain most of the time we're there. Argh!
  14. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

Agree re the first bit! We've done that so many times.... We're going to the Annecy area this time (via the Tunnel) so it's more east than we've been before. It's 8 hours via tolls and 11.5 hours avoiding tolls, which for us would probably mean an extra night each way. Hence the autoroutes.
  15. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

Well... I appreciate your views and to some extent share them - but sometimes you do just want to get there! Our next trip has been cut a bit short due to unavoidable conflicts, so we want to just get down to the South as quick as we can, and enjoy things down there rather than meander.
  16. Emovis/Liber-T tag location on a Relay

I've just received a new Emovis (Liber-T) tag for France next week. We had one on our old van but always found it a bit hit and miss. Now we have a Relay, wondered if anyone with a Relay/Ducato/Boxer has found where it works best, or where not to put it. We have the 'reflective windscreen'...
  17. The Bus is for sale

    Congratulations!
  18. Emergency leak stopper?

Out of curiosity, if you used the Evo Sticks like doodah, how are you going to remove it? And how are you going to clean the surfaces? I ask because the only job I got someone else to do on my conversion was fit the rooflights, and they used a Sika adhesive, not sealant, which would have been...
  19. Sale of self built

"Well used" Crikey: just watched the video. Oh my....
  20. Emergency leak stopper?

I bought some butyl tape in the end. I have a rooflight which just very occasionally leaks - I think it depends on the wind direction and how much rain. And it might even be just getting blown up under the top rather than a genuine leak, so I want something to carry on board just in case. Butyl...
