    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Thanks very much for your kind offer, there is a slight problem with distance: I live in Scotland so it's a bit of a trek but, hopefully, there is a very kind man out there who lives not a million miles away from me that may be able to help me out. I daresay after reading this I will be...

Base arrived today, quite happy with the construction; made of stainless steel so no need for painting. Looked at the ring and thought I've got a cutter that size, unfortunately.........not quite. As you can see, no use at all. Getting back to the job, when I get round to fitting the plate...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

The exhaust bandage turned up today, along with a new length of flexible exhaust pipe. I was never happy with the quality of the piping that you get with the kit, not too bothered on the inlet side though I will be doubling the pipe up by using the exhaust and then sleeving it with the inlet...

Hello Debs, First of all, hope you are keeping well. It will be very interesting to see how he gets on . Rae

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Thanks for getting back to me on the pump, it's nice to get some reassurance. As for the fuel, it was only a thought as I had one or two people inquiring why would I run a diesel heater when my van runs on LPG; which is half the price. One or two suggested a Propex heater surely would be a...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Thank you for your very kind offer Dave........I've got one or two jerry cans. It's not really about the money, it's I just can't bring myself to throw fully synthetic oil away that has done only 5,000 miles.......I suppose I could mix it with creosote and paint my garage. Now swiftly on to the...

Another question I would like to ask. My thinking on these pumps is they can't self syphon back to the tank even if the pump is higher than the tank. My reason behind this thought is you can't blow through the pump so I would imagine fuel could not do the same. Rae

Interesting point Dave. Kerosene, paraffin, heating oil, not sure if there's a lot of difference between these three things; certainly, a lot of people favour heating oil and red, if you can get it, paraffin I think is a bit too expensive. Once mine's up and running I'm going to try and run it...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Thank you Dave for taking the time and posting that. I already knew that it had to be turned off properly, I just didn't know how, well thanks to you posting I now know. For me, this was one of the weak points of the Chinese diesel heater and, providing, people adhere to the instructions of...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

It has been asked what the black dot is for on the fuel pipe, this is a measurement to let me know that the pipe has fully penetrated the rubber sleeve. At this point I also would like to mention that I did not use the jubilee clips that were provided and opted for the ones that are shown in the...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Spent last night watching YouTube videos and reading as much as I could about setting up the pump. So here we have the set up coupled together, coming in on the left and exiting on the right. To try and eliminate pump noise I shall be hanging the pump bracket off cable ties; seemingly this will...

The tank installation. Take no notice of the gas bottle and filler, that will be removed before the heater will be up and running. As you can see, snug fit but still enough room for us to get stuff in and out, as and when we need it. Decided to use Advel nutserts, four in total, I believe...

Air ducting. As I fully intend to use most of the original ducting that I got with the van and the vents, I had to sleeve down the Chinese T piece and cut up my original and sleeve inside. Fairly straight forward job, fits in quite nicely and, with a dab of glue, the job should be a good one...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

Finally got round to finishing the job of fitting the exhaust and the inlet. I opted to use the exhaust and then sleeve it with the original inlet pipe: I thought this would make reasonable sound insulation and give some more support to the inlet silencer and filter. Although these will be...

Coupling the bits together. First job. I needed to expand the tube so it would fit over the air filter pipe; easy enough job, find a socket of the right external size and then knock the tube down over it. Nice, neat fit. Now the other end. Cut four slots in each end so that when the...

    'Chinese' Diesel Heater

I've been thinking about what's been written about the silencers and I am still going to opt for the Chinese option, two reasons: first one being straight through and the other the Chinese ones have a drain hole and I think the drain hole is a very important part of the system. I will lag it in...

Decided to do some doctoring to the air filter. First job: remove the foam and put some gauze in it's place. While I was fitting the gauze I thought some extra holes wouldn't go amiss. All together, ready to be glued. In my experience with air filters, once you take the lid off they...

When I was looking at silencers there were four options: Eberspacher, Chinese straight through, Chinese kink (copy of Eberspacher) or motorcycle, where a spacer would have had to be made. The problem with the Eberspacher and it's Chinese clone is it slows the exhaust gasses down and that's why...
