    Bus or Van?

Phill, why is the Hymer you both seem to love so very much dead? I have known a large nuber of their products and to put it mildly, they are superbly built, so is it the actual build quality which is causing you to consider taking the steps that you are thinking about or are the problems...

    Possibly a stupid question but....

I want to remove both of the leisure batteries, however they are wired directly to the solar panel, is it OK to simply disconnect the connection without covering the solar panel over? Phil

    EEeK!!

My 'Millie' has proved to be nothing other than brilliant in both cold (down to lower than -10C) and very hot weather.

    EEeK!!

Dave; I thoroughy went into the matter of glass fibre insulation when doing up our current property and I am afraid to say that almost all reports I referred to slated glass fibre when used in close proximity to a very cold exterior surface as they all talked about wicking of moisture etc. Phil

    EEeK!!

I have always said to anyone who has asked, the singularly most important aspect of a vans conversion is the insulation. Very sadly a lot of people skimp on insulation and end up regretting it....... BIG TIME. So for me, yawn, yawn, here I go again, if a job is worth doing it is surely worth...

    Plotting and Scheming!

Being the tight old bugger that I am, is Sketchup actually FREE with no hidden charges? Currently I use an ancient copy of Adobe PageMaker that I bought 20 years ago to make all my detailed drawings with but anything I create using it is purely in plan and I would love to be able to create 3D...

The easiest and fastest way is in a microwave.

Ducato, Relay, Boxer - Owt to choose between em?

Structurally Phill they are all identical with their construction becoming fully galvanised from 2007 onwards, however the FIAT versions can have some mechanical differences such as the engines used, however when it comes down to all the other mechanical components I believe they are identical...

    Plotting and Scheming!

Apart from us both having long pockets and short arms, neither of us actually enjoy eating out all that often, even when away, the main reason being that the vast majority of the time the quality and flavour of bought food is seldom anywhere close to what we can prepare either at home or when...

    Plotting and Scheming!

I must admit that I have the singularly most amazingly capable chef for a SWMBO and she does almost all of our cooking from fresh meals in a 10" wok it is of course, easy to use, easy to wash and very easy to store. Phil

    Plotting and Scheming!

SWMBO uses our grill quite often if for nothing else, to warm the plates or bowls as well as of course to make the toast. As for a microwave, at home we use ours a lot but when away over the past 30+ years we have never found the need for one and for that matter neither do we have an oven and...

    Plotting and Scheming!

Phill it all depends as to which make of gas bottle you have, if they are refillable ones then with most of them it is a simple matter to fit a panel mounted refilling point. Because my build was always intended to be as ultralightweight as I could build, I decided to only have a single...

    Plotting and Scheming!

Hello Phill, I like what you have planned out above about which I suggest that you ought to consider installing some overhead lockers above both of the bed/sofa sections, my reason being that you can't have enough storage space. And, as for your gas bottle location, that is exactly where mine...

Happy Christmas / Yule to All

And a very merry Christmas to you as well Rob, make sure you have a good one. As for me, well it is just the two of us along with our 3 four legged friends, consuming far too much of Laithaites best wines and an enormous rack of beef. All the very best Phil

Now this DOES tickle my fancy, a 1948 Ford van, ripe for conversion!! As I do every day, I spend an hour or so going through what classic cars are newly up for sale, primarilly so that I can advise various friends who are always on the look out for a likely addition to their collections, and in...

    Bit of encouragement needed

It is so true that a van build is never finished as you will always find something to improve, even if only ever so slightly as it keeps the mind motivated. As for me my brain numbing exercise on 'Millie' at the moment is fitting the rear view camera, but I am gradually getting there as over...
