Heating the van with the gas hob

No problems, with them being produced.... BUT it ain't getting hotter in there with one sat on the top of a cooker UNLESS the laws of physics have been changed lol.... However its still a cack way of keeping warm when away.... IMHO.

Heating the van with the gas hob

Waste of money... Unless someone has invented a way to change the laws of physics. Either way.... only SAFE/FOOLPROOF way to heat a camper is via a externally flued system.... How much is safety worth???

Help with choosing length of van

Just turned 50.... so not sure about the young bit.... I couldn't put up with a large c class/or the enclosed spaces of some of the VW's for long as it would restrict the sort of places we enjoy visiting/drive me daft folding a bed up every night ... etc etc Like I said, we are ALL...

    diesel heater

For the amount a D2 consumes.... I really couldn't be bothered with the pfaff... you'd need to be running it on full tilt 24/7 with the windows open to be even vaguely bothered.

Help with choosing length of van

We tend to be either Wilding (out in the middle of nowhere not a Lidl car park) so usually a tree for nocturnal tree watering) or on a CL....paper/cardboard plates and recyclable plastic cutlery or we eat out at pub/etc.... washing either wetwipes if we're only away for a weekend or site as...

Solar panel costs versus running the engine

Because in his particular case (very much the same as ours, as in we tend to move after a day or so) he has no need of carrying a spare battery around. we have 3 x 100ah leisure batteries powering a inverter running microwave/kettle/toaster/slow cooker and haven't yet been stuck for power...

Solar panel costs versus running the engine

I stuck 2 X 100w ones on the roof of the Transit earlier in the, year.... just as a belt and braces thing really (we tend to move around pretty much only stopping 1 place for 1 day.... SO the Durite voltage sensing split charge does most of the work of charging the 3 x 100ah leisure batteries)...

Help with choosing length of van

I'd have agreed about the fridge...... right up until I swapped our 3 way 40l coolbox for a 12v variable compressor one (Waeco brand) it's very energy efficient pulling less than 1 amp and that ONLY when it runs.... I wish to God I'd swapped it years ago

Help with choosing length of van

Horses for courses at the end of the day chap.... we had a limited budget that just about stretched to 2500 for a 'just' sub 100k Transit Jumbo with useful bits fitted.... and with us hopefully continuing to get almost every weekend away rack up the mileage up fairly quickly.... before...

Help with choosing length of van

after having several Renault based work vans over the last few years.... I'd be less worried about the body rusting than the mechanics exploding at just over the 100k mark.... French based shizzle isn't a goer in my book from my experiences.

Help with choosing length of van

I went for a Transit Jumbo (4m long) to give us as much space as possible for the two of us and the dogs/room for a permanent fixed double (fed up with foldy uppy/blow up shizzle) Have plenty of storage and room for a 'dog pod' for when they are minging wet until they have dried off.... we...

    Pros and Cons of Converting....

Some of them are really ridiculously heavy for what they are.... bearing mind some have walls close to 300mm thick. I'd look closely before taking the plunge... and smell carefully (I used to do quite a lot of work on fridge pack stuff (mobile cold rooms etc) the smell can linger even years...
