Cheap Little Battery MONITOR - But How Good Is it ?

I purchased some Coulomb counters before I change my mind and took the Victron route. I went for the inductive pickup style, but after experimenting on the bench for a few months I wasn't convinced as to their accuracy. One prematurely died also. I get stressed when things don't work as I expect.

    Renault Master tyres?

It is a pain getting stuck, but I’d rather have no drive on grass as when I last got stuck it sank to it’s axels :(

    Violating a Princess!

Just when you thought the holes I've been making in Betty couldn't get any bigger, I've finally plucked up the courage to tackle the Boot area. Surprisingly the sides of the Boot were lined with stainless steel. You might think this was a good thing. All the support structure for the boot...

    Solar Panel Questions

I've been using Lensun panels for a few years with about a 50% failure rate. They have been good and replaced them. Shame they have often been a different mounting pattern. I bonded studs to the GRP roof and retained the panels with aluminium straps. Air moving under them makes them vibrate...

Mixing AGM and Wet Cell Battery Types

I did a simple capacity test and how to go about it a while ago, but I guess no one noticed. It’s even adjustable to suit the demand on any setup. It’s funny how everyone remembers how not to do something when quickly they forget a working method. Dave “wildebus’ puts a lot of time and effort...

Don't leave Sikaflex EBT+ open in the air !! SEAL NOZZLE AIRTIGHT

Most, if not all of these products have a shelf life. They start curing from the day they are filled. We used to buy an expensive specialist product to retail. We had complaints it had cured in the tube. It would take 6 to 18 months to clear our stock. When we learnt how to identify the use...

Don't leave Sikaflex EBT+ open in the air !! SEAL NOZZLE AIRTIGHT

    I'm sure I loose more than I use :(

    Violating a Princess!

There are some impressive plastic sheet products around now. Personally I try to avoid using plastics as much as practical. Though if the product has a superior life span that's good. From my experience of plastic sheeting, they do creep and distort over time. Then there is the flammability...

    Violating a Princess!

Same sort of stuff Trev. Phenolic resin coated plywood. May well be bonded that way too. For any floor that has any chance of ever getting damp this is the stuff. Shower rooms too.

    Violating a Princess!

As you can see in the pics, Plaxton made very little effort to seal the bulkhead. With my LHE 811D your left hand would be toasty warm and right so cold you could barely use it.

    Violating a Princess!

I was lucky Trev, as the step box it's self was a reinforced glass fibre moulding. The step inside it is as yours and showing signs of rot like yours. The new one will be made in Buffalo Board. I'm hoping this new step will also be the D4 eberspacher home.

    Violating a Princess!

So this weekend we managed to get the step box back in loosely. It’s a pain as the door needs to be removed to fit it. Yet again more demolition in the back. Steel panels removed too see if it was possible to make a side door to enter the garage compartment. It should work well. A dangerous...

Air Suspension - Anyone using it ?

I can see how people would be put off, I'm into Betty to the tune of around £1k just on suspension so far. Stays up for a day now! More hunting required. It's bottom wants painting and insulating so I expect the leaks will be found.

Very Confusing & Poorly done electrics plus Amp Flow when no obvious termination - CONFUSED

Most of these battery testers are a waste of time for motorhome use. The only way is to do a proper timed discharge test. I did a post on my experience getting some Varta LFD90's replaced. They are still good starter batteries but useless for leisure use if anyone wants them.

Air Suspension - Anyone using it ?

Betty has rear full air suspension as standard. Much more complicated than any aftermarket system. Interesting it has additional air chambers to reduced the rising rate. Though I've often thought with some vehicles I've had, an air assist system might be handy.

That does look like a big waste of space. Has anyone thought about having storage lockers in the floor?

    Solar query

Always good to run ideas past others Dave, You make a good point. I could have a display somewhere handy to the engine start bank and the habitation bank.

    Solar query

Thanks Dave, I intend it all to be done with new kit. This can be the danger buying stuff to early. Cerbo looks tempting. Also read about SmartShunt, I wonder if that’ll be cheaper than the 712.
