massacre in van sticky glupy stuff everywhere

I'm impressed that you've done that well. It doesn't sick where you put it, but sticks to everything else! It doesn't expand or expands so much you can't control it. I have wondered if one of the professional guns would help. Then you have the nightmare of cleaning the gun. I think if I...

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

Allow the batteries to go into float for a day or so with 100% SOC I expect you’ll see a larger variance in the cell voltages.

I guess I will be doing something like that once enough progress is made.

It might be best to start writing the operators manual now for the new owner, ready for when you sell it. ;)

    Little jems when shopping

A clean square cut is every thing. So pencil, fine blade hacksaw and a engineers square. Good luck.

    Violating a Princess!

I'm sure that when the 1977 Merc 608 was converted around 1980 that had a RCD fitted. No leisure batteries or even an inverter. I'm not even sure what it was used for? It wasn't mine at the time. It is interesting to see what was considered acceptable such a short time ago.

    Violating a Princess!

Thanks Dave, for now I've just put a couple 6 amp ones in. First test was a vacuum cleaner followed by some power tools cutting panels for the shower room. I managed to take the batteries down to 98.5% So it looks like it was a good choice with the batteries.

    Violating a Princess!

Time to admit a mistake. The reason for my tripping twin MCB was due to the fact it was rated at 1 amp! I don't know what is worse, not noticing it's rating or buying it it the first place. :(

    Violating a Princess!

Fully charged now and floating at 27 volts. It will be interesting to see how they power the fridge and more so the calorifier. Lots more work to do before I’m at that stage.

    Violating a Princess!

I was hoping that David. I don’t know if the Multiplus or the mppt’s are in control of the charging. The voltage hasn’t risen much, but about 2.4kw’s have gone in so far. I finally managed to get the ground relay working and have 0 volts on neutral though still a couple of volts leakage to...

    Violating a Princess!

Whilst attempting to tidy the workshop I thought I'd evict Betty's lithium batteries. So I got distracted and put them in a box. I then got to thinking they really need charging, so roughly connected them up. Solar panels now getting a good workout. I wonder how I'll know if they are charged?

Pulled leaky window out without breaking it

Funnily enough I had a windscreen fitted today (don't ask!) The chap doing the work was very pleasant and chatty. His preference was to put the mastic on the glass rather than the body. As for priming the solution is supposed to be good for 30 days once opened, though he had no experience due...

    Calorifier Installation MB Sprinter

If you search this site I have posted many times on the subject. With these types of jobs I find it’s best to work backwards. Make a list of what you expect from it first, then it’s easier to find a solution. There is more than one way to fit and use them.

Pulled leaky window out without breaking it

Read the instructions for the primer before you make life harder, Utube is full of idiots, don't trust it. Most good industrial suppliers/manufactures will have comprehensive instructions.

Pulled leaky window out without breaking it

When fitting the window again, make sure you use a corrosion resisting primer on the body and the glass. The glass fitting mastic should be applied to leave a high pointed "V" This way you are guaranteed a leak proof seal.

Pulled leaky window out without breaking it

I find if you keep the knife wet with window cleaner it cuts better and cleaner. It must be very sharp or you risk an accident.

The plumbing circuits for the hydronic are misleading. It’s just a central heating boiler.
