Wondered f someone can help , just completed a camper conversion on my Vito van , installed a Sargent ec155 kit , but already having issue with turning lights on and off using Sargent control panel .the spot lights are touch sensitive type but the panel doesn’t turn them off or on , I’ve followed the instructions using correct slate colour wire but no joy , even sent it back to Sargent as there technical support said it must be faulty , and now they are saying it’s fine , I just can’t see how I’ve gone wrong has anyone experienced this thanks

2 possibilities.
1) are your touch sense led lights pos/ neg sensertive ( Some led lights can be wired up either way round and others will only work if pos is connected to positive terminal on light unit)
2) Sounds silly but are they earthed correctly, i.e. is the earth your using actually earthed indeed are the lights earthed back to the 155 unit through the supplied earth wire or are you using the vehicle bodywork as the earth?

Have you actually tested the lights independently of the 155 unit by wiring them straight to a battery. Or have you tested the grey wire directly via a multimeter or different light unit?
Sargents are very good with their support and would definitely not say that all is well
If the unit had a problem.

Hi so when I put the power on from the leisure battery the press the power button on the control the lights come on , however if I press the light button to turn them off they will not turn off , I’ve tried both of the slate grey wires and both the same

tried it independently just a bulb and phone charger , when I press the button on the control panel it does not turn it off , I’ve contacted Sargent they haven’t a clue

Are the touch sense lights the only lights you have fitted?
It is odd that when you press the power button on the 155 unit that should turn all 12volt power off other than the Radio wire.
So it would seem that the lights are getting power from another source, which seems most unusual. However there is always a reason for things to happen so there must be an answer, let me look at the wiring diagram for the 155 and I'll get back to you. I've fitted a 155 to my daughters van that I'm building.

Yea it is strange , there’s only 6 small spot lights, the tap works fine on the control panel and now it’s blown a fuse on the lighting fuse board , that is the only power to the lighting which is the slate grey wire , I feel that the control panel is faulty and they’ve not checked it.

Is this a secondhand unit? Did you have the wiring all ready set up to the 12volt multi plug and all you had to do was plug in the multiple or did you have to physically add the pins to the wire and make the plug up yourself.

Ok change the fuse and get your multi meter and check the slate wire with it, disconnect all lights, if poss cut the slate wire close to the unit and check that it is operating as it should, make sure you don't cut it too short give yourself enough wire to rejoin it after you've checked it out.
I use the waterproof presoldered tubes that you heat shrink with a hot airgun I find them brilliant for this sort of thing but crimped terminals would be fine.

I think you will have to do as I suggested in cutting the slate wire close to the unit, that way you know for sure that there is no other connections in the circuit and if it still does not go on and off with the power button there has to be a fault in the unit itself. If it does go on and off then there must be a fault in the light circuit.

Just as thought do the other lights extinguish when the power button is pressed off?
It could be if they do but the touch sense lights don't that the touch lights have a capacitor and don't turn off immediately till the capacitor has disopated. Have you waited any time after you have pressed the power button to see if they eventually do turn off. Phil

Well you wouldn’t believe it so there technical said yes that button on the panel is for the lights .it turns out the grey wire is a permanent live and the light switch on the panel does not operate the lights , it needs a switch in between the wire .can’t believe that they didn’t know this ,thanks anyway for the responses

As I said there is always a reason, glad you finally sorted it. Phil

Very odd though as the two 155s that I have installed in the past both switch on and off the front and rear light power when the power switch is operated.
