Maybe blank off some of the windows and paint them the same colour as the lower part? I'd have a look at images of some factory A-class coaches and take some cues of them for external appearance.
Let them know it would be illegal to class it as a HGV as it's not been type approved. In fairness to the DVLA, But in general I don't think they are fair, it does to my mind still resemble a holiday coach, it must be very difficult to make a coach look like a motorhome as here in the UK "RV " is still an Americanism and not really recognised by the general British public. I pay a bit more for my road tax, but it's not a lot.Is private hgv Road tax £165 cheaper than bus/coach ? As Wildebus says this seems to be an automatic dvla response to conversion requests with no appeal.

I currently have a 5.5tonne Iveco welfare bus conversion, which the DVLA are happy for me to use as a motor caravan, it has a class 4 mot, & its taxed as a bus. The post office couldn't tax it as anything else while that logbook taxation class says Minibus. The entire system is shit, everyone interprets the rules differently & nobody, including the DVLA seems to have a clue what the actual rules are. I get different advice every time I ask anyone, its just a minefield!
Fancying a short single decker as my next project, but not sure what license I'd need. If it gets changed to motor caravan on the logbook, I reckon I'd need a HGV License, if it is refused, & stays a bus irrespective of conversion or tax class surely I'd need a PSV license?
