Seating

From my limited experience and being a fussy bugger I find most seating very uncomfortable. It doesn't help with so many people being very tall. That is over the normal height of 5'3" and that seating is possibly designed around them.

I've always thought there must be British Standard Seat dimensions that are comfortable for most people. To date I've been unable to find any.
Simple rules I've noticed.
1. The seating base must be lower at the back.
2. The back rest must lean away from you at the top
3. You should be able to put your heals behind the inside of your knees.

I did find this and I think the numbers should work with a bench seat too. (bare in mind these numbers are for over height people)

I have always thought that life must be very difficult for anyone who is not of an average size! I am 5' 10" and of a lean build, however it is the width of my shoulders that has always caused me problems with seating and as such the cars I have bought in former years when the close proximity of the 'B' door pillar has seen me very often having to go for another design of car.

So my heart goes out to people who are shorter than average and honestly don't know how some of them can drive, let alone ever finding it possible to sit comfortably.

The worst I've driven are some of the car derived vans where the pedals are pushed forward in the car version and still in the van when you want to push them down.

Back to motorhome seating I think it's the convertibility of them that makes them bad. I'm hoping to address that for the Betty build.
It's not needed for Anita and myself, but if my oldest children want to borrow it they could and there would be room for the Grandchildren. Though I doubt if they would want to be seen dead in any motorhome, lol let alone something Dad built! They both have at least a rigid truck licence.

I bought an minibus seats (Ford Transit), and did not want those that convert to a bed for comfort reasons (oh, and space...).
The seats I got seem to be quite comfortable and can lean a bit back for extra comfort.

That's the easy answer and what was done for the traveling seats in Murky. As it still has some Unwin rails, belted coach seats were the easy answer. For the Betty build I want more.

It might do if the controller is part of the seat.

The new lorrys with air seats are good but not at £700. 00 plus pump , but if you have air already Renault T are brown leather and fan cooled but 1 fix setting . I do like the dump button to get out though. I'm going good to wife with the two settings. but i mite have to buy hole chrysler. As the electricity is not just in seat en closer.
Still looking for cheap as the swivelling base has now gone up in price in the EU. £200. Each

My swivel base was much cheaper I think it came from a commercial seat supplier. The swivel is for the co-pilot seat.
The driving seat I have is air. KAB714.

In the VW Transporter world, people fit all kinds of random seats to replace the cab seats. SAAB ones seem to be an initially popular option as they have all the luxury electrified bits but few folk actually manage to get them working.
It doesn't have the fancy bits, but another popular seat that actually DOES work well on them is the Ford Galaxy front seats. They are very comfortable, have an integral swivel mechanism built in which means you avoid raising the seat (which can be a great advantage for some) PLUS the swivel mechanism is nicely integrated into the seat.
AND .... the seats that fit on VW Transporters fit nicely on Sprinter Bases. I have a pair of Ford Galaxy Swivel Seats on my VW LT, which has the same Seat Bases as the Sprinter. #
If you like cheap, I paid less for the two very nice Galaxy seats than the single aftermarket Swivel Plate costs (y)
