    Violating a Princess!

I was wondering which as some of the Eberspacher controllers have a temp sensor built into them but the standard wiring doesn't use them by default. If you had that type, could save the hassle and expense of adding an extra one? just need to connect the relevant wires together (I did this with...

    Heating Van over Winter

Got one of them. In the shed ... But seriously ... People talk about getting Wind Turbines but they need the sort of speeds that you really don't want to be parked in :(

    Heating Van over Winter

I would use the generator for power but the very large tree, while not fallen on top of the side sheds, have totally blocked access to them. Typical huh!

    old engine oil

I use cellulose on my VW T4 a few years ago and it was brilliant. Perfect match for colour and general finish appearance. Ideal for a van with non-metallic paint :) (FWIW, sprayed with a DeVilbiss gun ;) )

    Heating Van over Winter

I dumped all the water a few days ago. Lucky I did as snowing today and puddles are freezing, and cannot rely on any plug-in heaters as power went out last night and not expected to return until 10PM tomorrow (fingers crossed!). And sods law, I am doing some battery tests so deliberately have...

I happened across this video today which I think may be interesting to anyone putting together their own battery packs. Lots of things discussed and some things to consider They fitted a nice big 20,000KW battery bank in their pretty small (euro sized, not US sized) RV as well.

The Smart Shunt and the BMV-712 both have a temp probe option, and there is also the Victron SBS (Smart Battery Sense). All those devices can send Temp info using Victrons VE Smart Network using Bluetooth. However, the Victron B2B, although being bluetooth enabled cannot participate in the VE...

    Home assemble LiFePo4

did you watch the video and notice the flex in those? much more than a solid bar with a hump. The flex-bar would straighten out if pulled on. Also, how rigid is the connector on the cell internally? is it solid or is it cable? I don't know if anyone has actually opened up a cell and looked...

There was a discussion about busbars to connect the cells a little time ago.... I happened across this video this morning and the busbars the guy found look pretty nifty. Worth a look I think if still deciding what method to use.

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

I know the costs for the 30A units. not sure on the smaller ones. I can find out, but I would say looking at around £150 ballpark

    Not a Self-build, but a Tweaker

You mean if there was a energy source on the output so some reverse voltage? that is a fair point and in my case not something I tried. You would need to check if 24V sitting on the output would bump the input voltage up as well (I would hope not but who knows with this kind of cheap kit?)...
