i have had and used good quality hand drills . imo they belong in the past,like yankee screwdrivers and handsaws . when these old tools were superceded i was first in line to buy the new up-to-date stuff . i used to sharpen my Disston rip , panel and tenon saws every week . putting in 200 screws...

hi Phil ,i use the usual method , up and down ,in a figure of eight , on an oilstone ,till i can feel a wire edge,then remove that by doing the back . very rarely use a chisel these days, biscuit joints and modern glue sort out most joints
