Helpful video on insulation.

Came across a good video on insulation. Might be helpful to DIY'ers.

Although I do have it on good authority that kingspan/celotex types of insulation do deteriorate over time. I'll also add this "good authority" is a Rockwool installer, so make of it what you will.

Other way round. Rockwool slumps unless carefully installed. Celotex/Kingspan does not. They are different products suitable for different jobs, but a properly-installed sheet of Kingspan will outlast your grandchildren.

No, not the other way round. Slumping of Rockwool is another issue completely. Plenty of reports suggest de-gassing of these products results in lose of insulation properties. Could well be they last long enough for what most people want in a van, it's highly unlikely they will performing any better than polystyrene by the time the grand children are gone. :)

No, Kingspan does not lose insulation due to de-gassing. They are made of closed cell foam, filled with air. If the cells did leak, air would be replaced by air. Rockwool, on the other hand, depends on the air in between the strands, so as it slumps it loses air space and therefore loses insulation preformance. So slumping is NOT a different thing entirely.
