Generally speaking it is likely to be the appalling low rent quality and content of the applications, over many years I have seen quite a few of them and I honestly do believe my 8 year old granddaughter could do better!!

Personally speaking I would only go for solid colours (far easier to touch up) and neutral colours as well with no in your face/brash colour schemes. So this would rule out any bright yellow/orange colours or indeed any bright colour schemes as they would surely date very quickly indeed? So...
